Aminaka Wilmont A/W 2011 Show

This weekend, my good friend Nicole and I were lucky enough to get invitations to the Aminaka Wilmont a/w 2011 show on Friday. I wasn't aware of the designer, as they are quite new, however, it was a really good experience for me as it was first ever time attending a show!

I am a bit late blogging about it, considering journalists practically ran to the laptops outside the show to see who could upload their review the quickest. Even if I did have access to them (of, course, they were strictly press only), I was having too much fun people watching and wandering around.

I only managed to take a few piks on my blackberry, which are a bit blurry, however, I have found some pictures of some of the looks online.

The clothes themselves looked effortlessly fresh and light considering it was a A/W collection. The print was amazing, graphic animal prints merged together in a wash a neutral greys and beiges; to create leggins, dresses and flowing dresses. Most of the statement pieces were combined with some trusty favourites to create a wearable outfit; a shearling jacket, leather hotpants, belted knitwear and lots of over the knee socks. Judging by this show, this seasons wedge heals will still be popular next season, as most of the models were dressed in wedge heeled shoes and boots (leather of course).

Personally, I liked the collection, it was simple and elegant with a modern spin. The designers could have been slightly more adventurous, as there were quite a few trends which I were fully aware of, that had just been carried on from this season and last winter.

On the beauty side, the makeup was kept simple, so as not to complicate things. Sheer skin, with much highlighting on the cheekbones. The eye makeup was minimal, if not non-existant. The hair was styled in a half up half down style, which suited the look well. Plaits were woven at the back of the head which swept the hair off the face, it was all very fresh faced.
