[Funnily enough, I had an old article I wrote about this season Androgyny trend a few months ago. For anyone that would care to read it :) Nadine X]
androgyny
During this time of year, the majority of us women are browsing through our favourite glossy, or searching online for summer style inspiration. Were can I find the cutest vintage inspired denim shorts? Or, should I invest in a pair of those Kurt Geiger seven-inch leopard print wedges? Let alone facing the prospect of actually having to wax our legs for the first time in months.
We are all getting to grips with which summer look to embrace, however, now is the time which designers and retailers are producing their Autumn/Winter collections in preparations for the demands of the masses in 2012.
Across the A/W 12 catwalk shows, many trusty favourite looks were re-created again and again; 70’s retro, heavy, decorative embroidery with luxurious fabrics and high neckline/long sleeve combos. Although, my favourite of them all was the classic trend, gone back to time and time again, androgyny.
A style that has been a part of both fashion and lifestyle for generations, androgyny has seen its return yet again this season on the catwalks, and no doubt will be returning to the high street come September.

Alexander Wang’s New York show worked the androgynous trend fantastically. Many of the designs were versatile, despite the fact that it was women’s wear; men could easily pull off some of the garments. Awash with masculine capes, leather jackets and tuxedo style coats, the collection was the epitome of androgyny.
Similarly, Philip Lim’s Autumn/Winter 11 show was based on practicality for the workingwoman; clothes designed for women on the go; simple, chic and on-trend. Alike the Alexander Wang show, several of the garments could be described as unisex. Even Dolce and Gabbana threw in a few cheeky tuxedos into their collection; however, they were awash with black glittery sequins.

A little heads up about what to look out for, once the weather becomes a little bit chillier and the shops begin stacking up on their Autumn gear.
